The Language Department moved to new space in the office tower across Clinton Street from the main building. The floors were on two levels - 24" below the street entrance then 30" below that. A series of ramps, corridors and a central "foyer" were devised to organize the program elements - 3 generous classrooms, a department office, toilets and secure access from the street entrance. Each classroom has 11' high ceilings and all interior rooms have "windows" looking out to the corridors. (Saint Ann's School, an independent educational institution, is housed in a 12 story building in Brooklyn Heights. The school's program includes grades K-12 and the building is fully utilized. Program spaces are regularly improved and reconfigured as necessary and as time permits.) web site and all content Copyright © 2006 GVZ Architects |
